Welcome to Ubuntu Guesthouse
Ubuntu means humanity – “I am, because we are.” This philosophy stands for community, sharing, and respect – values we live by in our guesthouse.
Since 2013, we have been traveling regularly to South Africa, and it has become our second home. The culture, endless excursion opportunities, breathtaking nature, vibrant cities, culinary highlights, and world-class wines continue to inspire us.
We – Esther, Beat, Silas, Salome, and Enea – are delighted to provide you with genuine hospitality and personal service. Please do not hesitate to contact us or any member of our team if you have questions or special requests.
Guesthouse Information
- Check-in: from 2:00 PM
- Check-out: by 11:00 AM. You are welcome to use the pool even after check-out – ideal for late flights. Luggage storage is available free of charge.
- Room Cleaning: daily until 12:00 PM. Please use the door sign if you do not want your room to be cleaned. After 12:00 PM, cleaning may not be possible.
- Towels: please place used towels on the floor. They will only be changed for environmental reasons.
- Bed Linen: changed once a week, unless requested otherwise.
- Breakfast: buffet from 7:30 AM – 10:00 AM. If you have an excursion and cannot attend, please let us know by 12:00 PM the day before. We will gladly prepare a takeaway breakfast for you.
- Pool, Sauna & Steam Room: open daily from 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM (sauna and steam room require about 10 minutes to preheat).
- Wellness Amenities: towels, bathrobes, and slippers are provided.
- Quiet Hours: please be considerate after 10:00 PM as many guests enjoy a peaceful night.
- Drinking Water: filtered water is available throughout the guesthouse. In the dining area, a special tap allows you to enjoy filtered water chilled, sparkling, still, or regular, without carrying bottles.
- Electricity: thanks to our solar system, we are generally unaffected by South Africa’s scheduled power outages (load shedding).
- Private Driver: excursions or airport transfers can be arranged with our driver (contact at reception).
- Wi‑Fi: login details are provided at reception.
Pool Use
Please note: The pool is not supervised by a lifeguard.
- Use is at your own risk.
- Children may only use the pool when accompanied and supervised by an adult.
- Ubuntu Guesthouse accepts no liability for accidents, injuries, or damage related to pool use.
We kindly ask all guests to use the pool responsibly so that everyone can enjoy it safely.
Safety Information
We do not intend to alarm you, but please take note of the following precautions:
- Ensure the gate closes immediately when entering or leaving the property.
- Use ATMs in banks or shopping centers. Avoid withdrawing cash after 4:00 PM.
- After 10:00 PM, travel in groups or by Uber for your safety.
- Please do not give money to begging children, as it may support harmful practices. Food or drinks are fine.
- Carry small change discreetly rather than taking your wallet out visibly.
- The center of Stellenbosch is monitored 24/7 by SITI Stellenbosch Security: Control Room Emergency Numbers: 064 543 06 44 and 021 809 50 15
